I was lucky enough to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on opening weekend and have been dozens of times since then, which means I’ve tried nearly every cocktail concoction on the menu at Oga’s. You can make reservations up to 60 days in advance and it fills up quick! And if you don’t have a reservation, you can check the walk-up availability on the Disneyland app. Now, Oga’s Cantina takes reservations, just like a sit-down restaurant. The result was crowded walkways and frustrated guests as everyone stampeded into the line. In fact, Oga’s Cantina was so extremely popular during the first days of operation the line had to be closed off multiple times throughout the day, which caused guests to linger in the area, waiting for the signal that the line was open again. This Batuuan watering hole is the first public location inside Disneyland Park to serve alcohol, which makes Oga’s Cantina drinks a worthy destination in their own right. Breakfast food includes Mustafarian Lava Roll and Rising Moons Overnight Oats. One of the most exciting areas of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is Oga’s Cantina. In addition to its robust drink menu, Oga’s also has one food option during the day, a snack mix called Batuu Bites. If you’re going the non-alcoholic route, we vouch for the Carbon Freeze which takes inspiration from passion fruit bubble tea with pearls. Breakfast drinks include Black Spire Brew, Moogan Tea, and Tarine Tea. Non-alcoholic drinks (all $6-$7.50) include Hyperdrive, Jabba’s Juice, Blurrgfire, Carbon Freeze, Cliff Dweller (which comes with an exclusive Porg mug), Oga’s Obsession, and Blue Bantha. Oga’s non-alcoholic drinks (L to R): Carbon Freeze, Oga’s Obsession, and Cliff Dweller Photo: Kent Phillips/Disney Parks The beers are Gold Squadron Lager, White Wampa Ale, Gamorrean Ale, and Bad Motivator IPA, with Spice Runner cider. Various beers, wines, and ciders are available on tap, range from $12-$13, and all sport Star Wars names. Oga’s alcoholic drinks (L to R): The Outer Rim, Bespin Fizz, Yub Nub, and Fuzzy Tauntaun Kent Phillips/Disney Parks Morning variations include Spiran Caf and Bloody Rancor (spiked coffee and a Bloody Mary-esque concoction respectively). Photo: James Bareham/PolygonĪlcoholic drinks, ranging from $14-$15, will include Jedi Mind Trick, the Outer Rim, T-18 Skyhopper, Fuzzy Tauntaun, Dagobah Slug Slinger, Bespin Fizz, Jet Juice, and Yub Nub (which comes with an exclusive Endor mug, hiking up the price to $42). Within the park lore, Og’s Cantina is a notorious hotbed of smugglers and less than savory citizens. This dining location the first in Disneyland to serve alcohol. The main dining location in the land also features various themed drinks like Moof Juice, Phattro, and Batuubucha Tea - along with Black Caf (aka regular ol’ coffee with a Star Wars zinger for a name). It has a neat little chocolate token that rests on top of it’s shiny, round, gooey exterior. The Batuu-bon’s more of a sweet milk chocolate treat. Deserts Photo: David Roark/Disney Parksĭesserts - available at both lunch and dinner - include the Oi-oi Puff (a raspberry cream puff) and the Batuu-bon (chocolate cake). The dinner menu includes the Smoked Kaduu Ribs, Friend Endorian Tip-yip, Yobshrimp Noodle Salad, and the Roasted Endorian Tip-yip Salad, as well as the Ithorian Garden Loaf (a vegetable based meatloaf) and Braised Shaak Roast (beef pot roast). Yobshrimp Noodle Salad Photo: David Roark/Disney Parks We really enjoyed the Felucian Garden Spread, a light and refreshing dish that doesn’t really have a contemporary in the rest of the park’s culinary options. Lunch features Smoked Kaadu Ribs (pork ribs), Fried Endorian Tip-yip (crispy chicken with roasted vegetable potato mash), (chilled shrimp with marinated noodles), Felucian Garden Spread (Kefta with hummus in a pita), and Roasted Endorian Tip-Yip Salad (a chicken salad). So obviously, there should be no other content than C64 games in the directory. So instead, I am going to pick option 3, Manual Scan, which will not check against the database but will add each and every unit found as a game. Rather, it seems simply to show that the Amiga fanbase is still going strong while C64 nostalgia is just that: nostalgia for times gone by, not an active scene. I don’t think that 1:15 relationship reflects the true proportion of the two games libraries. Strengthening this suspicion is the fact that the binary database file for C64 is 46 kb against a 706 kb database for the Amiga. Most of the games I found in the list were obscure educational games, and there just weren’t that many games in it to begin with. If this representation of the database contents is to be believed, though, I think the answer sadly is that the database for the C64 is just not very good. I say “I think” because I haven’t seen it work yet, despite the database file for the Commodore 64 being present and correct. This – I think – has the advantage of adding thumbnails and metadata and generally making your library more appealing. There are three ways to do this, the first two of which match files against a database. Now, to add the files I go to Import content on the main left hand menu. If, for instance, you accidentally go to Settings > File Browser instead, you will find the option to have the file browser start at the last used directory. Understanding why some options are under one heading and others under another will seem to require memorization, routine and immersion rather than strict logic. This also serves as a neat introdution to a recurring experience in my time with RetroArch: A very confusing settings hierarchy. The setting for default starting point is found under Settings > Directory > File Browser. If I need to use the file browser multiple times, navigating to a specific spot from root over and over again gets annoying. The easiest way to build and maintain a games library in RetroArch is to have it scan a directory containing game files and have the discovered games added to your library, ideally associated with the correct core.įirst, I want to set the default directory in file browser settings. Since it worked, I never investigated further. As will be apparent in what follows, I just picked the first in the list. The VICE DLC adds multiple cores covering multiple Commodore models, including the VIC-20, Commodore 128 and even the PET (!) But there are also at least three cores covering the C64 in what appears to be slight build variations on the same codebase. I say core = DLC but that’s not quite true. In order to play Commodore 64 games, I added the RetroArch – VICE DLC to my “purchase” (it’s free, like RetroArch itself) under the CONTENT FOR THIS GAME DLC list on RetroArch’s Steam Store page. RetroArch also has it’s own distribution of cores and other modular parts for use when not installed through Steam, though I would advise against mixing the two. When installing from Steam, cores are DLC that should be added in Steam. And as indicated by the name of the component, the underlying emulator engine is the same.Ī core, in RetroArch parlance, is a game interpreter. Once you get set up, Retroarch is so much more Deck friendly than the VICE project’s 圆4 program that very much presumes mouse and keyboard. Why RetroArch and not just plain VICE? The short answer is UI. I found it easier getting used to RetroArch and it’s user interface while sitting at a desktop setup, so I definitely recommend at first either hooking the Deck up to a mouse, keyboard and external display – or trying this out on a regular gaming computer first. the emulator needed for C64 games, in general but with a particular emphasis on making it work for the Deck’s controls and Steam Input. This post is going to detail how to run and configure the VICE component of RetroArch, i.e. The Steam Deck feels very much of that same spirit. It was packaged so as to be accessible – also if all you wanted to do was game on it – but it was a computer, open to tinkerers, not a locked down console. In the 1980s the Commodore 64 was the home computer that took the fight to console town. How apposite to link the Steam Deck up to the Commodore 64. Even after putting an ungodly amount of hours into Hades, discovering the joys of The Swapper and replaying Portal, getting Boulder Dash – a modest home computer hit in the 80s, but a childhood obsession of mine – to run seamlessly on the Steam Deck, felt like peak Deck. You can choose to have your paste history saved to disk by turning that option on under Preferences > General > Save copy/paste history to disk. It can be filtered by typing a subsequence, and the filter can be cleared by pressing backspace. You can access paste history with cmd-shift-H. Whenever text is copied or pasted in iTerm2 it is added to the paste history. If you make a selection and press tab, your autocomplete will be extended with the selection. If you make a selection and press return, it will be entered for you. The filter can be reset by pressing backspace. The list can be filtered by typing a subsequence. An autocomplete window opens showing the top 20 choices for words beginning what what you have entered. To use autocomplete, type the beginning of a word and then press cmd. AutocompleteĪny text that exists in a tab or its scrollback buffer can be autocompleted in that tab. Clicking it opens a menu of options in which you can enable regular expression search. When you open the find field (cmd-f) there is a down-arrow on the left of the field by the magnifying glass. As you work, you can jump back to the compilation errors with cmd-shift-J. You can save a mark at that point and then return to your editor to fix the errors. This is useful, for instance, if you suspend your editor to compile a program and it emits errors. You can mark a location in a session with cmd-shift-M and then jump back to it with cmd-shift-J. You can add exceptions if you don't want certain combinations to be remapped (for example, cmd-tab) by adding a new global shortcut with the action "Do Not Remap" and the keystroke of the (unremapped) key you wish to keep unaffected by modifier remapping. Set Left option key to Left command key and Left command key to Left option key (and do the same for Right command and Right option if you please). One common need is to exchange cmd and option. You have separate control over left and right command and option keys. Pressing the hotkey will drop a terminal window down from the top of the screen, and pressing it again (or clicking in any other window) causes it to disappear. A new profile will be created that is optimized for the feature. Then check "hotkey toggles a dedicated window with profile:". Click in the field and enter the key combination you'd like to use. Enable "Show/Hide iTerm2 with a system-wide hotkey". To enable this feature, go to Preferences > Keys. This window is called the "hotkey window" and is most commonly used for occasional administrative tasks. ITerm2 offers a special terminal window that is always available with a single keystroke. Pressing the shortcut again restores the hidden panes. You can "maximize" the current pane-hiding all others in that tab-with cmd-shift-enter. You can navigate among split panes with cmd-opt-arrow or cmd. The shortcuts cmd-d and cmd-shift-d divide an existing session vertically or horizontally, respectively. ITerm2 allows you to divide a tab into many rectangular "panes", each of which is a different terminal session. At most one line of text can be selected this way. To move the beginning of the selection to the left, press shift-tab. Then press tab and the end of the selection will advance by a word. Enter the beginning of the text you wish to copy and the find feature will select it in your window. To select text without using the mouse, press cmd-f to open the find field. Text selection by mouse is described later in General Usage section. There are two ways to select text to copy to the clipboard: you can use the mouse, or you can use the find feature's "mouseless copy" feature. ITerm2 has many features that will change the way you interact with your terminal. It will familiarize you with some features of iTerm2 that you may not have seen in other terminal emulators that can make a real difference in the way you work. Even if you are an experienced user, take the time to read through the highlights section of this document. ITerm2 should require little explanation for users accustomed to terminal emulators. Hamada, a large desert map, is great for vehicle combat, but the distances between control points and the generally increased time-to-kill in Battlefield 5 mean you spend a lot of time running back to where you died and, if you’re unlucky, being sniped by someone on the way. It’s visually impressive and incredibly atmospheric, but the cluttered geometry and lack of clear, identifiable paths to each control point make it feel messy and poorly paced. Less successful is Devastation, the Rotterdam-based map I mentioned earlier. Its exposed mountainside location makes for some hectic firefights, with opportunities for distant snipers and aircraft to make your life hell. Fjell 652, set in the mountains of Norway, is a lot of fun too, particularly the control point situated among a scattering of cabins. The open areas are perfect for vehicle skirmishes, while infantry can battle for control of the farmhouses and villages scattered around the area. Its elevated position gives snipers a great vantage point on the swamp and buildings below, but luckily the bridge is strewn with rubble and flaming wrecks, providing just enough cover for the opposing team to push through and claw back territory.Īrras is another great map: an expanse of French countryside covered in vivid yellow rapeseed fields. When the enemy team has control of the bridge, wrestling it back from them is a fun, satisfying challenge. DXR is another story, and you can check out our Battlefield 5 performance analysis for the details. I also experienced some judder, particularly on the Narvik map. But on my GTX 1080 at home I had to knock the graphics preset down to high to keep a mostly stable 60fps at 1440p. Performance Predictably, Battlefield 5 runs beautifully on a PC with an RTX 2080 Ti I tested it on.
